14 YEAR OLD ACTRESS NOMINATED FOR
BEST LEAD ACTRESS FOR “PAST TENSE”

(Vancouver BC)  At the tender of age of 14, most teenage girls can be described as dramatic, however local actress and auteur Alexia Fast has taken it to a whole new level, having landed herself a Leo Award Nomination for ‘Best Lead Actor in a Feature Film’ for her role as Sara Shay, in the BC shot feature, PAST TENSE (Paula Trickey, Donnelly Rhodes).

“I was really surprised”, Fast says of being nominated alongside seasoned actors such as Sarah-Jane Redmond and Steph Song. “I have bought a new dress and will go out with friends for dinner before. It’s really exciting.

Reminiscent of a young Natalie Portman, this talented teen is not only an accomplished actor, Fast has also written, directed and starred in the short film The Red Bridge. This 6 minute film is currently in the festival circuit and has already screened at the Atlantic Film Festival and the Reel to Reel Festival in Vancouver.

“People always asked me how I made The Red Bridge – I just did it. First I wrote it, and then I drew pictures of scenes that I wanted, I rented a camera and found a local editor.” It was her experience making her short film (at the age of 9!) that Fast got the acting bug. “I begged my mom to let me start acting.” gushes Fast, She finally let me! I did one BRATZ commercial and then I landed my role in FIDO.

The sky is the limit for the career of this talented teen. Since her career breaking role in FIDO, she went on to a principal role in Kickin’ It Old School, playing the young Maria Menonuos, and has been booked solid. Guest stars on 4400, Masters of Horror, Supernatural and the lead role in a new CBC pilot for a series, are just a few of the other credits she has banked. She is currently working on the Richard Dreyfuss feature, Tin Man, with the producers of Pan’s Labyrinth.

The Leo Awards are Saturday, June 2nd at the Vancouver Bayshore Hotel
