Steamworks in Gastown was the venue for the biggest Oscar party Vancouver has seen. Infinity Media hosted the bash as their highly acclaimed film Capote was up for five of the awards.  The event drew some of the city's top talents including the whole cast of the popular Vancouver television show Godiva's.

And at a nearby table, media mogul, Moses Znaimer, with pals Rory Richards and Carmen Ruiz y Laza, in town from Toronto to drum up business for his annual ideaCity brain aerobics forum in June.

Vancouver's Infinity Features had a lot to celebrate during the 78th Annual Academy Awards.  Their locally produced film Capote was nominated for five Academy Awards, with actor Philip Seymour Hoffman walking away with this year's Best Actor Oscar.  In celebration of their success, Infinity hosted a splendid red carpet Oscar party at Steamworks in Gastown.  The space was packed with a well-dressed and beautiful "industry" crowd.

WILLIAM VINCE, the Infinity Features executive and Capote producer, hosted that movie's Oscars-night bash in Los Angeles. That left the firm's Rob Merilees to do it for a crowd party organizer Rory Richards corralled to watch the Academy Awards show on television at the Steamworks pub-eatery here.

While Canadian filmmaker Paul Haggis literally Crashed the Brokeback Mountain party with his surprise best film win in Los Angeles, it was equally a starry night locally as the red carpet rolled out on many fronts to welcome stargazers looking to celebrate Hollywood's biggest night...Infinity Feature films celebrated its Vancouver produced film Capote at a standing room only shindig at Steamworks in Gastown.

 Local production company Infinity Films, which made the Academy darling Capote with Philip Seymour Hoffman, threw an Oscar-viewing party at Steamworks (375 Water St.) on Sunday to celebrate the film's huge success. Capote received an Oscar (Hoffman won for best actor) and four nominations - a huge breakthrough for Vancouver's film industry, putting us on not only the world stage, but on the red carpet.  We should all be proud!

  Also last week, local celebs, friends and guests came out to the Terminal City Club to celebrate the tenth anniversary of CKWX News 1130 AM.  The night featured fabulous food, entertainment, and prizes.
4 News 1130 news director Jacquie Donaldson joined Rogers Communications director of marketing Paul Fisher at the microphone for some words of inspiration and praise.

At News 1130 radio's swank 10th anniversary party earlier this week at the Terminal City Club, the stars of Godiva's, Erin Karpluk, Stephen Lobo and Matthew Currie Holmes, gushed about meeting the station's meteorologist, Russ Lacate. We just love his "$1,000 weather guarantee."

Lindsay Maxwell has been finding love in equally wrong places.  On screen, anyway.
